Dear Coyote Valley Elementary Community,
I am writing to inform you that at the conclusion of this school year, I will be stepping down from my role as Principal. This was not an easy decision to make, as I truly love Coyote Valley Elementary school and the Hidden Valley Lake community.
When I first arrived as principal three years ago, the students, staff, and community welcomed me with open arms. In my time here, I have witnessed incredible growth, dedication, and achievement among our students, faculty, and staff. I am immensely proud of the accomplishments we have achieved together during my time here, and I will always be grateful to you all for allowing me to play even a small part in these accomplishments.
Though I am sad to leave Coyote Valley, my wife and I are expecting our second child later this year, and an opportunity has arisen that will allow me to spend more time with my family. I am confident that Coyote Valley is well-positioned for continued success under new leadership, and I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition process.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to the entire Hidden Valley Lake community for their support, collaboration, and unwavering dedication to our students' success. I will cherish the memories and relationships formed during my tenure here.
I will work closely with the Middletown Unified School District and CVE staff to ensure a seamless transition and provide any assistance necessary during this period of change. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or need further clarification.
Thank you once again for the opportunity to serve as Principal of Coyote Valley Elementary. I know you will continue to be the special school you have been since I first attended at 7 years old. Always remember that Coyotes are Kind, Safe, Responsible, and always Respectful.
Sincerely,
Matt Coit
Principal

Sinceramente,
Matt Coit

Today, Mr. Schaffer's class presented persuasive essays to school and district leaders in an effort to ensure the Seal Team 8 pallet flag is protected during the summer when the school is repainted.
MUSD's Director of Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation, Michael Del Sarto, promised the students he would ensure the flag's safety and even conduct a ceremony at the end of the year with them when he takes it down to protect it. Thank you Seal Team 8 for using your voice to support our school!

Calling all musicians: Our occupational therapist is hoping someone may have some hand drums, bongos, djembes, or cajons that they would be willing to donate to the school. The students she works with could really benefit from these instruments. Plus, who doesn't love more music in their lives! Thank you so much CVE! Please feel free to bring any musical donations to the CVE office.

One of the hardest skills in learning is being able to talk about your processes. Ms. Moore's 4th grade class excels in this area, and we're so impressed. What are you working on today?
“Using the area model to show the equivalence of two fractions.”
“Doing simple terms in littlest forms.”
“Composing fractions and dividing them.”
“Using composite numbers.”
“Creating reduced fractions.”
“Common factors GCF dividing by the GCF.”

Happy Monday! Just a reminder that we'll have minimum days all this week for parent teacher conferences. Students are released at 1:00 all week.
Please plan for extra time during pick up, as there are extra cars picking up on minimum days, and please remain in your car when along the curb. If you need to exit your car to assist your student, please plan to use a parking space. This ensures that our students and families remain safe and our pick up runs smoothly. Thank you for your help, and have a great week!

We love the Reading Graffiti wall in Mrs. Gaddy's 5th grade class. Students write down their favorite lines from books.
