Community
Middletown Unified School District serves the educational needs of the communities of Middletown, Hidden Valley Lake and Cobb Mountain in southern Lake County, California. The District consists of one high school, one middle school, and three elementary schools, utilizing K-6, 7-8, and 9-12 grade-level configurations. An Alternative education program, consisting of a continuation high school for high school level students 16 years of age and older, is also offered at Middletown Unified School District. As of the 2016/2017 school year, the student body at Middletown High School was comprised of 72.4% White, 20.5% Hispanic/Latino, .4% Black, 1.9% Asian or Pacific Islander, 1.9% American Indian, and 2.9% two or more races.

School
Middletown High School is a comprehensive four-year public high school enrolling approximately 426 students in grades 9 through 12. The school was established in 1919. It is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and holds membership in the College Board and the National Association for College Admission Counseling. Currently there are 117 students expected to graduate in June 2019.

Curriculum
The academic program is organized on a block schedule. Forty (40) credits per semester is the maximum course load. Students attend three 90-minute block classes, and two 55 minute blocks daily and alternate between Day A and B for a total of eight scheduled courses. Classes are 36 weeks in length.

Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered in Calculus, English Literature, U.S. History, Environmental Science, as well as Spanish Language and Culture. Honors classes are offered in English 10 and English 11. Local and surrounding area community college Concurrent Enrollment programs enable qualified students to enroll in freshman courses and earn college credits.

Grading and Ranking Percentage G.P.A.

  • F – Failure 64 or below 0.0

Students are ranked according to their weighted academic G.P.A. GPA is computed beginning with grade 9, all subjects, whether passed or failed. A minimum of 270 credits are required for graduation. In addition to the required 270 credits, each student must complete 40 hours of community service, as well as pass a required Civics/Economics course taken as a senior. AP classes are weighted by one point. Grades are recorded on an official transcript and GPA is computed in January and June.

Extra-Curricular Activities- Class of 2018
Students also have the option to participate in several sports including: Boys Football, Soccer, Basketball, Wrestling, Tennis, Golf, and Baseball; Girls Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball, Wrestling, Tennis, Golf, and Softball; Boys & Girls Cross-Country and Track & Field.
