Dear Middletown Middle School Families,

Welcome to Middletown Middle School for the 2023-2024 school year. I am so excited to join this MMS team this year! The first day of school is August 9, 2023! We will have orientation for 8th grade Monday, August 7, 2023. 7th grade orientation will be Tuesday, August 8, 2023. Both orientations are from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. (you don't have to show up right at 4:00-anytime in those 2 hours is just fine.)

I recognize that these dates are cutting it close to the first day of school and I apologize for how close that feels. I wanted to let you know the reasoning behind that decision. The way the calendar works this year has students starting school on a Wednesday, which means teachers are not back with us the week before school begins. The purpose of orientation is to receive class schedules, get yearbook pictures taken and purchase items needed, but the almost bigger reason is to hopefully start to build a relationship between families and teachers and take some of the anxiety away of starting a new school year for our students. In order to do this, I wanted all staff to be able to be on campus, in person, to meet your child and you! It is important that we all know each other and start off being able to work together and communicate well.
